  • Advised Actis Africa Real Estate Fund on its acquisition of 32 acres of prime real estate land in Nairobi for the development of a proposed mixed use development, from East Africa Breweries Limited

  • Advised HassConsult on the development of nine exclusive villas and forty residential apartments in Nairobi. Advice was also given on the acquisition of land, joint venture structuring and sale of the residential units.

  • Advising Hello Properties Limited and Lagoon Developments Limited on the project structuring and transaction documentation for the Mandharini development and sale of 130 homes on 150 acres of land in Kilifi. The development received international acclaim and won the international development award for the best residential development in Africa.

  • Advised The Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and The Nature Conservancy in the acquisition of approx. 28,500 acres of land in Laikipia, Northern Kenya by a third party for the purposes of the permanent preservation and protection of land and wildlife. The transaction involved due diligence, complex corporate and property structuring, developing a tax efficient conservation model compliant with Kenyan law and included drafting and negotiating lease-back agreements, easements, granting of various options, rights and conservation management agreements.

  • Advised Sophia Karen Limited on the development and leasing of property located in Karen Nairobi to GEMS Education, an international education company that owns and operates high performing schools around the world. We advised on the acquisition of the land, negotiation of purchase agreement, development agreement and sub-lease to GEMS Education, various construction contracts and project financing in relation to the land acquisition and construction of the school.

  • Advised Ol Pejeta Conservancy on the joint venture structuring for the development of Mount Kenya Wildlife Estate, a 100 unit housing development which will be settled on a 1,000-acre piece of land owned by Ol Pejeta, on the eastern boundary of the 90,000-acre wildlife conservancy.

  • Advising a number of clients on the effects of the new land laws in Kenya to their businesses and investments. The new land laws were enacted on 02 May 2012.
